Summer DIY Beauty: Natural Hair Serum Recipe

With the recent heatwave here in the UK (we hope it comes back!), I thought now would be perfect time to share my anti-frizz, natural hair serum recipe with you. I know lots of us fear the frizz and we don’t have to. This serum’s homemade and uses completely natural ingredients. It’s an affordable, eco-friendly alternative to the silicone-loaded hair ones you’ll find in shops. It’s also very easy to make and used sparingly, keeps even the thickest of hair under control. DIY Natural Hair Serum Recipe The organic, moisturising oils blend together to give your hair a healthy shine – without weighing hair down. Plus, the refreshing scent of the essential oils will give your locks an irresistible, subtle scent. I noticed this serum works well as a leave-in conditioner too. Simply apply to the ends of your hair for smooth, silky and healthy-looking locks all summer long. Here’s how to make it...

DIY Natural Hair Serum Recipe

You’ll need

100ml pump dispenser 50ml jojoba oil 25ml avocado oil 25ml castor oil 5 drops rosemary essential oil 5 drops lavender essential oil DIY Natural Hair Serum Recipe A bit about the ingredients… I used certified 100% organic oils from Naissance, a natural, healthy living company. The light, unscented jojoba oil works wonders for dry or damaged hair, the nourishing avocado oil promotes healthier, fasting-growth hair, while castor oil is known for its healing properties. I chose to use Rosemary essential oil, which is good for hair growth. I also used my go-to oil: Lavender, which by nature has really has really good restorative (it smells amazing too!).

How to make it

1. Pour in the oils into your container (use a funnel if you need to). 2. Add the drops of all your essential oils. 3. Gently shake the container to combine the ingredients – and that’s it. DIY Natural Hair Serum Recipe

How to use it

1. Remember to shake well first and before each use. 2. Squirt a pea-size amount into your palm, rub your hands together, glide over the ends of your hair and comb through. 3. Store your homemade hair serum in a cool, dark place.

My top tip

Like all hair serums, apply too much and your hair will go from frizzy to completely flat in no time. So slowly apply tiny amounts at a time – you’ll find a little goes a long way with this homemade hair serum. DIY-NATURAL-HAIR-SERUM-RECIPE-2 What DIY hair products do you swear by?
