Style Your Sustainable Wardrobe

One of the things we are passionate about here at Thought is creating beautiful clothing that allows women to feel confident and elevated. It is also important to us that the pieces in our collections are timeless, and made to a high standard so they can be worn for years to come. We believe that finding new ways to style clothing can reinvigorate a wardrobe and make you feel good. Knowing how to style your clothing for different seasons and in a variety of ways is also a great way to be sustainable in your daily life. As Venetia La Manna said "the most sustainable wardrobe you can have is just to make the most of what you already own." We sent the pieces from our Denimkind collection to some friends of Thought, and we love how they are all styling them in their own way. Read on as we suggest some ways to get the most out of your sustainable wardrobe.

One Piece, Many Ways

When thinking about items of clothing, consider all the different ways they can possibly be worn. For example, have a go at styling your pinafore dresses over tees and shirts for the summer, and pair with a chunky knit and some tights in the winter. Many of our dresses are made from soft, breathable fabrics making them suitable for wear in the Summer, but there's no reason why they can't be styled with your favourite boots when the weather gets a little chillier.

Organise Your Wardrobe

Organising your wardrobe is the first step to working out what you have, what you need and what you would like to add. If you are able to see exactly what's in your closet, you might find you have forgotten about some staple pieces that give you some inspiration for styling. You might also find there are a few pieces that need a little TLC; this doesn't necessarily mean it's the end of its life, always see if it's possible to mend it first before throwing away.

Be Creative

Don't be afraid to try new things with your wardrobe. Whether that's adding a pop of colour with a print, or experimenting with layering, there are many ways to give your wardrobe a new lease of life. Adding a touch of customisation to your pieces can refresh your look, so why not try your hand at something crafty to allow your clothing to feel more personal to you.

Invest in Sustainable Staples

Focusing on buying sustainable pieces that will last longer is the most cost-effective way to shop in the long term. Start by identifying the pieces your wardrobe might be missing; such as jeans, t-shirts and jackets. When building a sustainable wardrobe, it is so important to consider the fabrics and materials used, and ensure that the manufacture process has as little impact on the planet and people as possible.
